Balsa (2016)

This piece was commissioned by the Hoepfner-Stiftung of Karlsruhe, Germany.
Balsa was premiered in January 2017 by Mayumi Miyata (shō), Ayumi Nakamura (clarinet), Minori Hayashi (double bass), and Yasuaki Itakura (conducting) at the Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo, Japan, as part of a collaborative project between the Japanese school and the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe.
The participating composers had the opportunity to travel to the premiere and we were accompanied by a team from the HfM Institute of Music Journalism, who documented the experience on video:
